“I wrote to Blondine, asking if I could come back and see her. She called me, I went down there and started taking shots. I knew about as much about photography as I did about prostitution – I actually learned how to take photos in that brothel. I ended up working there every night, all night, for a year. As I was photographing Blondine, other women became curious and asked if I would take their picture. Little by little, I got enough photographs of prostitutes to do my first book.” Jane Evelyn Atwood as interviewed by Jenny Stevens • Guardian
